The comprehensive Family Strengthening Program bridges the children’s programs by working with our parents to strengthen their knowledge, skills and confidence. By engaging and educating our families, we not only assist them in becoming fully productive and economically self-sufficient, we help build strong family bonds, vest parents in their children’s lives, and ultimately, build a stronger community.
Monthly educational and family fun programs are offered on both campuses. Programs cover a myriad of topics – all of which have been identified as important to the parents. Among the topics are: Financial Literacy, Parenting Practices, Behavioral Health, Medication Management, Energy Efficiency, Nutrition, to name a few. Family fun programs are designed to bring the entire family together for an evening of fun and bonding.
A Health and Wellness component to the program brings a Health Navigator on-site twice a week to meet individually with parents to help them navigate the various local, state and federal programs they may be eligible for as well as provide information on a host of resources available to them. A Family Advisory Board has been assembled with parents from each of our programs. This “body” serves as the “voice” of the parents, reviews and makes recommendations for programs and serves as the principal marketers and advocates for the program.
